EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., U.S.A. (AP) - Noah Igbinoghene returned a blocked field goal 58 yards for a touchdown on the first series, DaRon Bland scored on a pick-6 in the first half and the Dallas Cowboys ridiculed the New York Giants as they opened the season with a 40-0 win on Sunday.Tony Pollard scored on two short plays for touchdowns, Dallas forced two fumbles and caught Daniel Jones seven times. They allowed no points to New York's supposedly improved offense. The Cowboys beat the Giants for the fifth consecutive time and 12th time in 13 meetings, the largest shutout between the two teams, surpassing the Cowboys' 35-0 win over the Giants in 1995. It was also the Cowboys' largest shutout in a season opener since a 38-0 win over the Baltimore Colts in 1978.This was supposed to be the game in which the Giants proved they had closed the gap on Dallas and the National Conference East champion Philadelphia Eagles. It wasn't to be.The Cowboys didn't need quarterback Dak Prescott and the offense. With two Brandon Aubrey field goals and Pollard's touchdown in the second half, they went into halftime up 26-0.
